Yes. Most learning features work offline. Sync requires iCloud and an internet connection.
Your progress can sync through iCloud when both devices are signed in with the same Apple ID and iCloud is enabled.
First, check that iCloud is enabled and both devices use the same Apple ID. Then reopen the app and give it a moment to sync. If the issue continues, contact support.
RoboKana is available on iPhone and iPad.
No separate account is required. Some features, such as sync, rely on Apple services like iCloud.
RoboKana helps you learn Japanese writing through step-by-step practice: hiragana and katakana, kanji with readings, meanings, stroke order, radicals, and compound words, plus reading and matching tasks.
The current version covers all hiragana and katakana (including dakuten and handakuten), 668 kanji across JLPT N5, N4, and N3, and over 2,200 words.
Writing recognition follows the order and direction you write in, not just the final shape. This helps build correct handwriting habits from the start. Quick, loose strokes still count.
